Eli Lilly: TRIUMPH-1 Study
Retatrutide is still an investigational therapy and not yet FDA-approved, yet early clinical trials have generated significant excitement within the medical community. In the Phase 3 TRIUMPH-1 study, participants receiving the highest dose lost an average of 70.3 pounds (28.3% of their body weight) over 80 weeks, with 45.3% of participants achieving at least 30% weight loss—results historically associated with bariatric surgery.
In an extension study involving individuals with a BMI of 35 or greater, average weight loss reached 85 pounds (30.3%) after 104 weeks. Even participants receiving the lower 4 mg dose experienced an average loss of 47.2 pounds (19%), demonstrating meaningful metabolic improvements across multiple dosing levels.
While these findings are highly encouraging, Retatrutide remains under investigation, and additional research and regulatory review are still underway before it may become available for routine clinical use.
